The Canon EOS C300 could not have come along at a better time. I'm sure I wasn't the only DP who was struggling to find ways to make my Canon 5D rig more productive, but despite the terrific shallow-depth-of-field images produced by the DSLR, it was difficult to work with in an ENG/EFP environment. Although the C300 substitutes a Super 35 sensor for the 5D's Full Frame, that compromise is more than equaled by its on-board tools you take for granted in a professional video camera: ND filters, XLR audio, 4:2:2 codec, etc. Paired with my 3 Canon EF L-series (16–35mm, 24–105mm, 70–200mm), this camera produces incredible images. The Zacuto EVF and Recoil mounting accessories round out the package and make it equally ergonomic for handheld or tripod based shooting.
