Milton-Madison Bridge: History on the Ohio

Commissioned by Doe-Andersion Public Relations, this 30 minute documentary profiles the innovative engineering to replace a deteriorating Ohio River bridge joining Milton, Kentucky and Madison, Indiana. The Milton-Madison Bridge Project — a joint effort between the Indiana Department of Transportation and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet — has received numerous state and national engineering awards for innovation. Spanning nearly a half mile, the truss of the Milton-Madison Bridge made history in April 2014 by being the longest bridge in North America — and perhaps the world —to be slid laterally into place. Most importantly, the engineering methods saved the economies of both communities from potential ruin. |
